Wallmounted outdoor showers
Wall-hung outdoor showers can be mounted on most solid surfaces such as brick, concrete, stone or wood. If you have a lighter cladding, e.g. wooden slats, it is recommended to install a solid backing piece or mounting plate behind the surface. Most showers have a technical drawing showing how each shower is installed.
Yes - many people choose to connect the wall shower directly to the house's hot and/or cold water system for comfortable bathing all season long. Some models can be connected to the garden hose for a quick and easy cold water solution. Most models on Garden-shower.eu are equipped with standard ½" threads to suit both permanent and temporary installations. It is recommended that the water installation is carried out by an authorized craftsman.
Most wall-hung showers use ½" threads. If you are using a model prepared for a garden hose, a simple hose coupling is enough. For fixed installation, flexible stainless steel pipes or PEX hoses are recommended for easy draining in winter. It is recommended that the installation is carried out by an authorized craftsman.
A mounting height of 200-220 cm from the ground suits most people. It is recommended that the water installation in the wall is placed approx. 115 cm above ground level for a comfortable height for the mixer tap. If the shower is to be used by both children and tall adults, you can adjust slightly. Test the angle of the water jet before final installation to avoid splashing water on the wall and get the most comfortable experience. Some models can be adjusted in height to fit under eaves if that limits the height of the shower.
A slight slope away from the wall is enough for the water to run off. Surfaces such as wooden decking, grouted tiles or a small stone bed work perfectly. The most important thing is that the water is directed away from the house so that moisture does not penetrate the structure. Many people choose decorative stones or grates, which both direct the water away and give a nice look.
Features. Several wall-mounted models have a diverter valve so you can switch between overhead and hand shower. If your model doesn't have this from the start, you won't be able to add a hand shower, for example. Therefore, check carefully what the shower can do before you order.
Stainless steel AISI 304 or 316 is the best solution against corrosion and provides an elegant look. If the shower is to be used close to the coast, stainless steel 316 is clearly the best choice as stainless steel 304 can get rust stains from the strong influence of salt water. Powder-coated aluminum or brass will also look great if cleaned regularly. All our models are made from weather-resistant materials that have been tested for outdoor use.
Turn off the water supply and empty all pipes and valves of water before the frost comes. Open the mixer tap so that any residue can drain out. In cold areas it is recommended to remove the shower and store it indoors as even small amounts of frozen water can cause damage inside the shower/ mixer tap. Also remember to empty the water pipes that lead water from the wall to the shower. Frost damage is not covered under warranty.
Clean regularly with mild soap and warm water - avoid harsh detergents. Rinse off salt and sunscreen after use. To remove limescale, you can remove the shower head and soak it in a mixture of vinegar and water. If necessary, polish stainless steel with a microfiber cloth to maintain the shine.
Freestanding outdoor showers
Freestanding outdoor showers typically come with a solid base plate that can be bolted to decking, tiles or concrete. If you want it to stand on grass or sand, you can use ground stakes or a heavy base. When properly secured, the shower is stable - even when multiple people use it daily.
Yes, it can. You can choose a permanent installation with buried hot and cold water pipes or a temporary solution with a regular garden hose. Many customers start simple and upgrade later when the garden is complete. If you live in areas with freezing temperatures in winter, remember to take into account that water in the pipes will freeze if they are not drained properly. Therefore, always consult an authorized craftsman for the correct installation.
Not necessarily. A flat and stable surface like wooden decking or tiles is enough. Concrete is only necessary if you want a permanent installation. The most important thing is that the substrate is even and allows water to drain away. Some models are also prepared with a ground spike and can therefore be placed in the ground on e.g. the lawn and moved around as desired.
Most freestanding outdoor showers have a low center of gravity and a wide base so they stand firmly - even in strong winds. If you have a model placed in the ground with a ground spike, it is recommended to move or cover it during storms.
Yes, many freestanding models have a built-in mixer tap so you can connect both hot and cold water. Alternatively, you can use it with cold water only via the garden hose - perfect for a quick cool down on hot days. Whether each shower is prepared for cold water or both cold & hot water can be found in the specifications of the individual shower.
A gravel bed under the shower and a small wooden tile is the easiest solution and requires no piping. On terraces or tile areas, you can install a small drain that directs the water to a planter or bed or simply make sure the tiles slope away from the shower and drain into the grass/ground next to it. Make sure water doesn't collect on woodwork or house walls.
Freestanding outdoor showers are made for outdoor use and require minimal maintenance. Rinse them after use and tighten fittings occasionally. Stainless steel can be polished easily, while powder-coated models are simply wiped with a damp cloth.
Before the frost comes, disconnect the water hose or shut off the water supply. Open the valves to allow all water to drain. If possible, store the shower indoors. Alternatively, cover it with a waterproof winter cover. Frost can burst the shower if water is left standing, so proper draining is important. Frost damage is not covered under warranty.
Yes, that's one of the advantages of a freestanding shower. You can easily move it to a new location in the garden by loosening bolts and couplings. This provides great flexibility - perfect for summer cottages and terraces where the layout is constantly changing.
Solar showers
A solar shower uses the sun's natural energy to heat water in a dark tank or column. The material absorbs the sun's rays and the water heats up quickly - without electricity or gas. It's an environmentally friendly and cheap way to have hot water outdoors all summer long.
On sunny days, the water can reach 45-60°C, depending on the sun and tank size. All models have a mixing valve so you can easily adjust the temperature. Even on days with partial sun, you'll usually be able to take a warm shower after a few hours.
Yes, it still works, but the water doesn't get as hot. However, the dark tank retains heat for longer, so you'll still get a comfortable temperature. For best results, the sun shower should be placed in full sun and preferably facing south.
About 3-4 hours of direct sunlight per day is ideal. Avoid placement in the shade of trees or buildings. The more sun, the hotter the shower water.
Most solar showers have a 20-40 liter tank, which is enough for 2-4 short showers. Some also go up to 60 liters. The tank size is stated in the specifications of each shower. The tank automatically fills up when you use the water and heats up again within a few hours.
In direct sunlight the water can get very hot, but this is easily regulated with the mixing tap. Always test the water before use - just like you would indoors. All our models are equipped with safety valves and robust materials that can withstand high temperatures.
Before the frost, empty the tank completely of water and cut off the water supply. If possible, store the shower indoors. Alternatively, cover it with a waterproof winter cover. Frost can burst the tank if water is left standing, so proper emptying is important. Frost damage is not covered under warranty.
Only very little. Rinse the tank a few times during the season to avoid algae growth, especially if the water is standing still for a long time. Clean the outside with a mild detergent so that the surface continues to absorb the sun's rays effectively.
Yes - it's actually the most common solution. All our solar showers come with a standard hose connection, so installation is done in minutes. The water flows directly from the hose into the tank, which heats it up automatically.
With proper use and winter draining, a good solar shower can last 5-10 years or more. UV-resistant plastic materials, stainless steel fittings and weatherproof valves ensure longevity. A few minutes of maintenance per year is enough to maintain function and appearance for many seasons.
